Aditya Prabhu wins ‘Student Entrepreneur of the Year’

Aditya Prabhu, founder of two start-up companies, is the recipient of the “Student Entrepreneur of the Year” award at the 2024 University of Minnesota Founder’s Day.

Prabhu established Canopy Systems, a low-power and long-range communication system that helps growers monitor conditions in indoor and outdoor farms, as well as greenhouses without the need for wires and frequent battery charging. Chase Anderson, another ECE alumnus, was his teammate for the project.

Alure LLC is another company started by Prabhu. The company has a unique approach to managing Japanese beetles, an invasive species that feeds on the leaves, flowers or fruit of more than 300 species of plants and causes heavy plant damage. Alure’s unique surface attracts the bugs and kills them on contact.

Prabhu graduated with his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in spring 2024.
