SRC/SIA Webinar: Collaboration Towards Decadal Plan Goals: Emerging Semiconductor Technologies

From the Semiconductor Research Corporation website: The SRC-NIST nCORE (nanoelectronic COmputing REsearch) program sets and aggressive research agenda for Emerging Semiconductor Technologies. Examples include advanced spintronic materials and devices, defect-engineered ferroelectrics for emerging memory devices, exploring new materials and physics concepts based on a first principles, revolutionary thermal management solutions, innovative metrology, etc. Research vectors include novel computing paradigms, fundamental material, device, and interconnect research, advanced manufacturing and nanofabrication, innovative metrology and characterization, and computational models.

The main goal of the webinar is to present the “success stories” from SRC’s nCORE program with NSF, NIST, and industry partners, and identify a compelling research agenda for the next wave of semiconductor manufacturing based on the Decadal Plan for Semiconductors

Picnic with Women in Engineering

IEEE Women in Engineering will be hosting a picnic. Join WIE on September 28th at 5:00 pm at East River Flats for fun outdoor games great food, and an amazing socializing opportunity. IEEE Board Meeting

IEEE UMN hosts its weekly meetings every other Monday at 7:30 PM. All are welcome to join as the student group plans, discusses, and organizes events and networking opportunities. This is a great way to become involved in the decisions that IEEE makes! 

CSE Career Fair

The Career Fair is open to actively enrolled students in the College of Science and Engineering as well as CSE alumni who have graduated in the past three years. There is no charge for students and alumni to attend. The fair will be open from noon to 6 PM on both days, Sept. 20 and 21.

Employers attending the Career Fair include many top national and regional companies such as 3M, Anderson Corp., Boston Scientific, Cargill, Collins Aerospace, Ecolab, Honeywell, Land O'Lakes, Medtronic, Optum, Polaris, Target, Xcel Energy, and many others. In addition, many employers will host virtual information sessions over the next few weeks. A full list of events can be found in Handshake.

IEEE UMN hosts Marvell for info session

Join IEEE on September 19th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm as they welcome Marvell for an info session and resume review. The info session will be hosted in Kenneth H. Keller Hall 3-111 and the resume review session will be in the ECE Learning Center (2nd Floor of Kenneth H. Keller Hall).  Electrical engineering representatives will share their experience working at Marvell and review your resume just in time for the CSE Career Fair! Also, we'll be serving free food so make sure to come! You can pre-register for the event here, but this is not required to attend.

Polaris resume review

Polaris is hosting a resume review event on September 19th from 6:00 - 7:00 PM in 114 Bruninks Hall. Experts will give you practical tips and career advice in preparation for the CSE Career Fair. They will be serving free pizza and Polaris swag.

PCB Population Tutorial

Join IEEE on September 15th from 6:00 - 7:00 PM to learn more about  PCB tech and design while getting to know each other. Bring the PCBs you received at the CSE Orgs event! We will be working in the IEEE Room (Kenneth H. Keller Hall 2-110). 

Star party: James Webb Space Telescope first image release event

Recommended for all ages

Join the Bell Museum as we celebrate the James Webb Space Telescope and its upcoming decade of science! Doors open at 7:45pm for a NASA live stream and indoor activities. Starting at 8:30pm, the Bell will set up telescopes to observe the Moon, Saturn, and our favorite deep space objects (weather permitting!).
