Bioengineering research in CEMS covers a huge range of topics, from cancer diagnosis and treatment, to the design and synthesis of bioartifical tissues and nanoparticle based drug-delivery vehicles, to metabolic engineering of prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms for targeted chemical synthesis. Bioengineering research in CEMS benefits substantially from close proximity to the University of Minnesota Medical School and Academic Health Science Center, as well as the BioTechnology Institute and agricultural departments on the school’s St. Paul campus.
