Ph.D candidate Anqing Xuan successfully defended his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering on June 3rd, 2020. He is advised by Lian Shen, director of the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory and professor in the Department of Mechanical Engienering at the University of Minnesota.

Amirreza Ghasemi selected as 2019-2020 Alvin Anderson award recipient

This past Tuesday, February 4th, SAFL was pleased to award the 2019-2020 Alvin G. Anderson award to Amirreza Ghasemi, a PhD Student in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering. The Alvin G. Anderson Award is awarded annually to University of Minnesota students pursuing graduate studies in water resources. Special consideration is given to students involved in the sediment transportation field, which was Dr. Anderson's specialty when a professor at the University of Minnesota from 1950 until 1975.

Phd Students Sagar Tamang and Luci Baker named 2019 Edward Silberman Fellowship Recipients

Two SAFL PhD students were recently named recipients of the 2019 Edward Silberman Fellowship at a special SAFL seminar on November 19th, 2019. Luci Baker, from the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics (AEM), and Sagar Tamang, from the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering (CEGE), were presented the fellowships for their outstanding research at SAFL. The fellowship award is paid for in honor of Edward Silberman by his family and friends to acknowledge his contribution to the lab.

Santosh Kumar chosen as 2018-2019 Edward Silberman Recipient

Santosh Kumar, a Mechanical Engineering PhD candidate at the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory was awarded the 2018-2019 Edward Silberman Award during a special SAFL seminar on November 13th, 2018. The Silberman Award is awarded annually for outstanding research at SAFL. The fellowship award is paid for in honor of Edward Silberman by his family and friends to acknowledge his contribution to the lab. Santosh received the award for his research titled, "Novel optical diagnostic tools for flow measurement near complex interfaces."
