TLI's Marcia Cole Named New Program Fellow for Security Technologies Program

The University of Minnesota’s Technological Leadership Institute (TLI) today announced that faculty member Marcia Cole has been named the new program fellow for Security Technologies. She replaces Dr. Patria Lawton, who recently accepted the role of interim Director of Graduate Studies for the Institute.

“Marcia has proven to be an extremely able instructor and mentor for our students, and she’s the ideal choice for this new challenge,” said Allison Hubel, director of TLI. “She brings more than two decades of hands-on experience in the ST field, and has a strong rapport with students in the program.”

Cole is herself a 2017 graduate of TLI’s ST program.

“I'm thrilled to be taking on new responsibilities as the program fellow this semester," said Cole. "The students in our current ST cohort are incredibly bright and curious, and I'm looking forward to expanding my role with them and contributing to their success."

Cole came to TLI from the world of software startups where she managed governance, risk and compliance activities, security testing and internship programs. She is an information security advocate with a passion for developing and implementing information security management systems and shepherding organizations through regulatory audits. Cole is a consultant, helping organizations build the right security and governance practices for their unique businesses.
