M.S in Management of Technology
Tarun Soni Ph.D., is the Chief Engineer responsible for strategy and technology within the Communications Division at Northrop Grumman, where he focuses on technology strategy and new market discovery.
Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, he was a business area director at Argon ST (sold to Boeing) in their San Diego, California operations, responsible for strategy, business development and business growth. One key program he managed was a complex communications payload for an 18 satellite constellation. Six of these satellites have been launched and are providing service to the machine-to-machine marketplace.
Earlier he was the chief engineer for Tactical Systems within General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, responsible for all technology related functions, including internal research and development. In prior positions, Dr. Soni has led teams in a wide variety of high-technology organizations such as NASA and startup companies. His technology experience ranges from chip design to sensor processing and software development for embedded, real-time systems.
Besides his association with the Management of Technology program at the University of Minnesota, his diverse experience base also includes teaching in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Soni is the author of more than 30 publications and sits on the technical review committee of several conferences. He has a doctorate degree from the University of California, San Diego, and an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles. His current research interests stray towards understanding complex systems.
