Micro, and Nano Structures
Research in micro and nano structures affect virtually every area of our lives. Impact areas include healthcare and biomedical research, information processing and storage, renewable energy generation and storage, environmental monitoring and remediation, and a wide variety of topics in security and anti-terrorism. Faculty in ECE are engaged in research in nearly all of these areas. Often the work is multidisciplinary and requires collaboration with departments across the University, as well as faculty in institutions within the U.S. and abroad, researchers from the National Labs, and professionals from both small and large technology companies. The Minnesota Nano Center, a node of the National Science Foundation’s National Nano Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI) network, provides a state of the art facility to carry out this work.
