Meals and Dining

1. Ice-Breaker

Time and date: 6:30 pm, June 9th
Location: Campus Club, 4th floor, Coffman Memorial Union, 300 Washington Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455

This will be an informal social event following the Keynote presentation of Athena NgHiem. Food and drinks (alcoholic and soft) are included as part of the event.

2. Breakfast

Time and date: 7-9 am (Monday - Thursday, June 9-12 th)
Location: Pioneer Hall, 615 Fulton St SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455

If you are staying at Centennial Hall, you have breakfast included in your stay. Breakfast will be served in Pioneer Hall, which is across from Centennial Hall. You will be given an access card when you check-in to Centennial Hall. This will allow you entry to Pioneer Hall. Breakfast is open from 7 am to 9 am.
 


3. Lunches

Time and date: 12-1 pm (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Location: Tate Hall, 116 Church Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455

There will be two fully catered lunches on Tuesday (Italian Buffet) and Wednesday (Mexican Buffet), and lunch boxes on Thursday for attendees of the RockmagPy Workshop.
 


4. Reception

Time and date: 6:30 pm, Tuesday June 10th
Location: Tate Hall, 116 Church Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455 (see map above)

There will be food and drinks served in the atrium of Tate Hall, after the conclusion of the Poster Session.


 5.  Conference Meal 


Time and date: 7pm, Wednesday June 11th
Location: Caspian Bistro, 2418 University Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414

We will be having our final meal of the conference on Wednesday at 7 pm at a restaurant called the Caspian Bistro. It is located 10 minutes walk from Centennial Hall of Residence. The meal and drinks are included with the conference.

The restaurant has asked for entrée choices in advance; by the end of Monday at the latest. Please see their entrée menu at https://www.caspianbistro.com/menu

Once you have made a decision on what you would like to order, please submit your choice using the google form send to you all in a separate email.

 


Extra Food & Coffee Options

Although breakfast, lunch and dinners are included as part of the conference, you may find yourself wanting some options and there are many around the campus.

Washington Avenue Area (central campus)

Some favorites:

The Afro Deli - serves dishes, sandwiches and wraps.

Tea House - extensive Chinese menu. 

Test Kitchen - serves a variety of Americana with revolving menu.

Stub and Herbs - old school bar and grill. Nice beer menu.

Kimchi Tofu House - Korean restaurant

There are also many other choices:

Dinkytown (north of campus) 

Some Highlights. 

Wally's - Middle Eastern restaurant (has vegetarian options).

Tacos Locos - Taqueria with Mexican style plates. 

Al's Breakfast - a Dinkytown landmark, traditional American breakfast. 

Annie's Parlor - upstairs old school burger and malts. Nice outdoor seating looking over downtown Minneapolis.

Bordertown Coffee - cozy coffee shop.

There are also many other choices:

On Campus

Cafe Bistro inside Northrop auditorium, serving sandwiches, pastries and coffee. Across the Mall from Tate Hall's main entrance, on the lower level of the Walter Library is the Wise Owl Cafe, serving Starbucks coffee, pastries and sandwiches. Several other fast-food options, including a Chick Fil'A, Panda Express, Jamba Juice, Einstein Bros. Bagels and Starbucks, are located in the Coffman Memorial Union. There is another Starbucks in Lind Hall on Church Street near to the IRM.
