Jacob Simones

Dr. Jacob Simones ’14

Joined Target Corporation as a supply chain analyst, then worked as data scientist with a focus on optimization and simulation. Currently working as a lead engineer supporting Target’s artificial intelligence capabilities.

Danielle Berg

Dr. Danielle A. Berg ’13

After graduating from the University of Minnesota in 2013, I spent one year as a visiting physics faculty member at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, MN. I then worked as a postdoc, first at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and then at the Ohio State University. I am now a tenure-track faculty member at the University of Texas at Austin.

Steven Warren

Dr. Steven Warren ’12

After completing my PhD I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Maryland. I then retired from professional astronomy, returned to Minnesota, entered industry as a computer engineer at Cray, Inc and currently work at Hewlett Packard Enterprise playing with and building the largest supercomputers in the world. I continue to call Minnesota my home.

Andrea Mehner

Dr. Andrea Mehner ’11

After graduating, I moved to Chile for a postdoctoral fellowship at the European Southern Observatory (ESO). I continue working at ESO as a staff astronomer, spending my time between scientific research in Santiago and duty work at Paranal Observatory.

Paul Edmon

Dr. Paul Edmon ’10

Paul earned his B.S. in Physics from the University of Washington in 2004. He received his Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the University of Minnesota in 2010. He then served as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Manitoba for a year before joining Harvard FAS Research Computing in 2011. Paul assists researchers from the Center for Astrophysics and helps run the Cannon cluster.

Kristen McQuinn

Dr. Kristen B. W. McQuinn ’10

After completing my PhD at the UMN, I remained at the MIfA for 5 years as post-doc, moved to UT Austin as research faculty, and then moved to my current position as (tenure-track) faculty at Rutgers University.

Daniel Weisz

Dr. Daniel Weisz ’10

After graduating with his PhD in 2010, Dan was a postdoctoral researcher and Hubble Fellow at the University of Washington and UC Santa Cruz. He began his current faculty position at UC Berkeley in 2016.
