About

Erik is a designer and project coordinator with SAFL’s Applied Engineering group, which he joined in 2010. His first project was working on SAFL's automated data carriage program. Now, much of his work revolves around the development of equipment and devices used for research at SAFL and, increasingly, laboratories outside of the University of Minnesota. Erik works closely with SAFL engineers, faculty, and researchers to build hydraulic research equipment and data collection systems. He also acts as point of contact for external researchers, architects, engineering firms and other stakeholders. Prior to working at SAFL, Erik split his time between building assistive devices and customized medical equipment for the Courage Center (now Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute) and running his own company producing interactive exhibits for museums.
