Title: The Ended Frontier?: Disruption at NSF under the second Trump administration

Abstract: 
Science policy is undergoing upheaval during the second administration of US President Donald Trump, which has sought to remake the federal research ecosystem. Few areas of the government have seen as much disruption as the National Science Foundation (NSF), historically the premier funder of basic research in the US. In this talk I will discuss policy changes at NSF and their impacts, especially on the physical sciences. I will also try to provide some insight into how and why this has happened, based on nearly two years of front-line reporting.
