J. Morris Blair Scholarship

In honor of Professor J. Morris Blair, an experimental nuclear physicist who was a Minnesota Ph.D. alum and a member of our faculty for more than forty years. This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate physics majors in the School of Physics and Astronomy during the spring semester of their junior year.

Zachary Ray

Simon Goss-Grubbs: "I am originally from the Seattle area in Washington state. I am about to start doing quantum materials research over the summer, so I would say that is what I am most focused on at the moment."

Andrew Yan: "Currently, my research is most focused on the field of condensed matter. Specifically, I am interested in functionalizing low-dimensional materials such as transition metal dichalcogenides as semiconductors for next-generation optoelectronics. I work with Dr. McLeod's lab on developing these methods."

Piper Eriksson: " I am most focused on condensed matter experiment measuring magnetoresistance of DNA origami coated with iron in Vlad Pribiag's research lab."

Peter Frische: Peter is originally from Apple Valley, Minnesota. His area of research interest is acoustics.

Benjamin Weiner

Hayden Binger: Hayden is originally from Spring Creek, Nevada. "I am working in Professor McLeod's lab on Nano-microscopy, and absolutely love it!" He plans to use the scholarship for tuition next year, so that he can put more time into academic research.
