Pospelov named Solvay Chair in Physics
Professor Maxim Pospelov of the School of Physics and Astronomy and A.S. Fine Chair in Theoretical Physics, William I. Fine Theoretical Physics Institute has been named the 2027 Jacques and Mimi Solvay Chair in Physics.
The International Solvay Institutes in Brussels, Belgium host workshops, colloquia and public lectures in the fields of physics, chemistry and biology. One chair is chosen from each discipline and is involved with the planning of activities at the Institute
Following the legendary 1911 Conseil Solvay on “Radiation and the Quanta” chaired by Nobel Laureate Hendrik Lorentz, the International Solvay Institute for Physics was founded by Ernest Solvay in 1912. The mission of the Solvay Institutes is to continue to support and develop curiosity-driven research in physics, chemistry and allied fields with the purpose of "enlarging and deepening the understanding of natural phenomena".
