Paul Hattan is a veteran of the medical device industry with more than 20 years of experience in engineering services, helping clients solve complex technical design challenges, leading design teams through full concept-to-commercialization development cycles, and providing expert consulting and testimony for patent litigation.

With broad mechanical experience and deep expertise in fluid and thermal systems, Paul has contributed to more than 70 device development projects, including minimally invasive thermal ablation, microfluidic blood analysis, robotic surgery, transcatheter heart valves, respiratory therapy and ventilation, oxygen concentrators, ECMO, dialysis, and CPAP.

Notably, during the COVID-19 ventilator supply crisis, the Canadian government granted Paul special authorization to enter the country as a pneumatics expert to help Canadian Emergency Ventilators execute an intensive nine-week design and manufacturing ramp.

Paul has been a guest speaker at the UMN Design of Medical Devices Conference and an IMAPS Advanced Technology Workshop. He has taught classes on medical device design, fluid mechanics, CAD, and CFD at the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas.
