How to apply

Our current undergraduate students can apply to our integrated BBmE/MS degree program, which allows them to complete both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in five total years.

Prerequisites and admission criteria

  • Only current students in the Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Program at the University of Minnesota are eligible to apply. Students from other programs or universities should view instructions on how to apply for our MS and PhD programs.

  • At the time of application, students must have completed all sophomore-level BMEn coursework (BMEn 2101, 2401, 2501) and at least four of the five junior-level BMEn lecture courses (3011, 3111, 3211, 3311, 3411) and four of the five BMEn junior-level lab courses (3015, 3115, 3215, 3315, 3415). Students who have not completed the required courses or their approved equivalents are not eligible to apply for this program. Students will not be permitted to advance to the MS portion of the program if their undergraduate degree is not conferred. Admission can be revoked should the student not successfully complete the remaining junior level coursework after application. Applicants to the Integrated BBmE/MS Degree program are not required to take the GRE. Admission is based primarily on the technical GPA.

  • Applicants with a technical GPA of 3.2 or higher are guaranteed admission. Applicants with a lower technical GPA are considered on a space-available basis.

How to apply
