BME DEI Alliance
The BME DEI Alliance is a grassroots organization of students, faculty, researchers, and staff committed to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the BME department at UMN. By joining, members show their support for this goal. Additionally, membership allows members to receive information about future events and opportunities to get involved in DEI efforts.
The Alliance organizes events to promote continuous education and growth of department members on topics surrounding diversity, and advocates for departmental policies that support a more equitable and inclusive community.

- Created first CSE DEI Coordinator position

For those who want to take more action, the BME DEI Alliance includes an Alliance Action Group. This smaller subset of the Alliance has specific actionable tasks in alignment with the BME DEI Strategic Plan.
Alliance Action Group membership is application-based and includes undergrads, graduate students, researchers, and faculty members.
By joining the Alliance Action Group, members can play a more active role in creating a more equitable and inclusive community within the BME department. Applications open every fall.
