Goldman Memorial Activities

Twenty of Regents Professor Emeritus Allen M. Goldman's former students returned to campus to participate in a weekend of activities honoring his life and research work. Ying Lu (PhD, Physics, 1991) and Bill Huber (PhD, Physics, 1999) gave seminars about their research, and several other alumni participated in a career panel. A celebration of life was held in Tate Hall, and the department's seminar room 110 in the Physics and Nanotechnology Building was formally dedicated as the Allen M. Goldman Seminar Room. 

Goldman passed away in May, 2025 at age 87. The standards he set for research and academic excellence have inspired members of the School of Physics and Astronomy for over 60 years. Professor Goldman's impact was made palpable by the high turnout and thoughtful talks given by alumni and friends of the School during the memorial weekend.
