Alaei named Apker Finalist

Sauviz Alaei, B.S. Physics, 22 was named a 2022 Leroy Apker Award Finalist by the American Physical Society. The LeRoy Apker Award recognizes outstanding achievements in physics by undergraduate students, and provides encouragement to students who have demonstrated great potential for future scientific accomplishment. 

Alaei was one of six finalists selected to present their research for the Apker Award Selection Committee. Alaei received an honorarium of $2,000 as well as $1,000 for the School for furthering undergraduate research education. While a physics major, Alaei was part of Professor Dan Dahlberg’s research group and won several awards and scholarships including the Astronaut Scholarship, The Hagstrum Award and the Alfred O. C. Neir Scholarship. He is currently a graduate student in Condensed Matter physics at Stanford University.
