Alexander Opitz receives Boston Scientific Faculty Impact Fellowship

Alexander Opitz's lab aims to improve non-invasive brain stimulation technology, which people respond very differently to. The team is identifying individual predictors, to help create a future where there are personalized treatments for brain disorders like depression.

August 22, 2023 — BME Associate Professor Alexander Opitz has been awarded the inaugural Boston Scientific Faculty Impact Fellowship. 

As the Boston Scientific fellow, the three-year appointment will provide Opitz with additional resources for his lab, allow him to hire students, and seed fund projects that help advance his research on the diseases that impact the human brain. The fellowship is funded by a gift from Boston Scientific.

The fellowship is designed to help the College of Science and Engineering retain its best and brightest faculty and fuel high-impact discovery and scholarship in the area of human health. Rewarding and retaining mid-career faculty builds department excellence, supports innovative research, and attracts top students.
