BME professor and graduate student receive PhRMA Foundation awards

December 13, 2024 — UMN Department of Biomedical Engineering Assistant Professor Brittany Hartwell and PhD student Madison Seefeld have received 2025 PhRMA Foundation awards for their research in drug delivery.

The PhRMA Foundation awards fellowships and grants to early-career scientists focused on drug discovery, drug delivery, and translational medicine research. The foundation awarded 34 early-career researchers a total of $2.5 million in fellowships and grants for 2025.

“The PhRMA Foundation prides itself on funding future leaders, and this year’s awardees have tremendous potential for advancing their respective fields,” says Amy M. Miller, PhD, PhRMA Foundation President.

Hartwell received a faculty starter grant of $100,000 for one year. Seefeld, who is part of Hartwell’s Lab, was awarded a predoctoral fellowship that will provide $30,000 a year of stipend support for up to two years.
