BME recognized by Insight into Diversity magazine for second year in a row

August 21, 2023 — A high school internship program from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota has received the "Inspiring Programs in STEM" award from Insight into Diversity magazine for the second year in a row.

The award honors colleges and universities that encourage and assist students from underrepresented groups to enter the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Four high school interns from schools around the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area participated in research in the labs of David Odde, Paolo Provenzano, and David Wood. Students also toured several UMN labs, including the Visible Heart Lab, the Minnesota Nano Center, and the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research.

At the end of the six-week program, students presented their research to their friends, family, and labmates.
