Summer research program for Morgan State undergrads wraps up

October 17, 2022 — Three Morgan State undergraduate students had the opportunity to conduct biomedical engineering research at the University of Minnesota this summer through a new summer research program from the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

Students were the inaugural members of the BME Pathways program, which features:

  • The opportunity to conduct research in a lab over a 10-week period
  • Skill development opportunities
  • Social events
  • Technical seminars from BME faculty
  • Visits to local biomedical engineering companies
  • University-wide poster symposium

BME Pathways is an all-inclusive research opportunity for STEM students and includes round trip flights, lodging, dining, local transportation, and a $5,000 stipend.

At the end of the program, Monica (shown) and other students in the BME Pathways program had a chance to showcase their research via a poster presentation. They presented their research to BME faculty and students, and other summer research program participants. Monica has also presented her research at another STEM conference since program completion.
