Inspired donor inspires environmental protection

Edie Postiglione was deeply concerned about the plight of elephants facing drought in Africa as just one example of the environmental challenges facing our planet. So she took action. She and her late husband Gary created a scholarship to support students who would study how to tackle our environmental challenges — to save not only the elephants, but our earth and water.
As an artist, she also created a one-of-a-kind artifact designed to inspire environmental stewardship and celebrate the power of engineering to protect our planet. She calls it ENVIE - the Wand of Environmental Inspiration, which is now on display in the Civil Engineering Building at the University of Minnesota.
