Agilent 7200 GC/QTOF-MS/Agilent GC_QTOF
The Agilent 7200 GC/QTOF-MS is a directly combined gas chromatograph-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer for accurate mass GC/MS and GC/MS/MS measurements. This instrument, acquired in 2015 with a University of Minnesota Research Infrastructure Investment Program Award, significantly expands the University’s capabilities in characterizing a wide range of chemical species, from small molecules and metabolites to synthetic polymers. It fosters interdisciplinary and intercollegiate research collaborations, advances understanding of the chemical mechanisms of disease, accelerates development of next-generation polymeric materials, and leads the way on the design, synthesis and characterization of new compounds and materials.
Bruker BioTOF II ESI/TOF-MS
The Bruker BioTOF II ESI/TOF-MS is a reflectron ESI-TOF instrument capable of 20,000 resolving power (FWHM) in its multipass mode of operation. It is used primarily for open-access ESI accurate mass measurements. Infusion only. Mass Range: 2000 m/z.

Bruker Autoflex Max MALDI/TOF-MS
MALDI/TOF-MS is a powerful tool for analyzing a variety of different analytes including small molecules (metabolites), lipids, nucleic acids, peptides, proteins, and polymers ranging in molecular mass from 100 Da up to 200 kDa or more. For analysis by MALDI, a sample is mixed or coated with an energy-absorbing matrix and then irradiated with a laser beam. Singly protonated (positive ionization mode) or deprotonated (negative ionization mode) molecular ions are formed and detected by a time-of-flight mass analyzer. The Bruker Autoflex MALDI/TOF-MS is also capable of rapid microbial identification. This is accomplished by acquiring mass spectra of individual microbial colonies. The resulting protein fingerprint is compared to a user-generated database of reference spectra to enable identification at the genus and species level.
Sciex X500R UPLC/QTOF-MS
The Sciex X500R UPLC/QTOF-MS combines ultra-performance liquid chromatography with accurate mass MS, and MS/MS analysis. This allows for highly selective and sensitive determination of compounds in complex mixtures. This platform can also be used to perform advanced metabolite profiling and untargeted biomarker discovery in biological and environmental systems.
Fluidigm CyTOF2 Mass Cytometer
Mass Cytometry combines the advantages of single cell high speed analysis common to conventional flow cytometry with the ability to resolve more than 100 metal probes with minimal signal overlap common to atomic mass spectroscopy; thereby, providing researchers with an unparalleled ability to phenotypically and functionally profile cells from normal and diseased states. The Fluidigm mass cytometry platform includes the MaxPar® line of metal-conjugated probes, the CyTOF Mass Cytometer, and high dimensional analysis tools from DVS Cytobank.
