Mass Spectrometry Laboratory

Waters Center of Innovation Laboratory

Our mission is to bring state-of-the-art mass spectrometry expertise, methodology, and instrumentation to the University's research and clinical infrastructure. The Mass Spectrometry Laboratory (MSL) occupies about 2,000 square feet of space on the first floor of Kolthoff Hall as part of the LeClaire-Dow Instrumentation Facility, and is located in 191 Kolthoff Hall. Support comes from service fees charged to investigators and direct institutional support from the University of Minnesota. We have established close research collaboratives with a number of departments, colleges, and interdisciplinary centers in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering, and Medicine.

Instruments include:

  • Agilent 7200 GC/QTOF-MS
  • Bruker BioTOF II ESI/TOF-MS
  • Waters TQD UPLC/Triple Quadrupole-MS
  • Waters Synapt G2 UPLC/QTOF-MS
  • Fluidigm CyTOF2 Mass Cytometer
  • Sciex X500R UPLC/QTOF-MS
  • Bruker Autoflex Max MALDI/TOF-MS
