Monica Ohnsorg selected for CAS Future Leaders program

Monica Ohnsorg received a prestigious CAS Future Leaders program award. Monica is fourth-year graduate student working with chemistry Professor Theresa Reineke and Professor Frank Bates, Department of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science, and is president of the ACS POLY/PMSE MN student chapter. Her research focuses on increasing the solubility of poorly water-soluble pharmaceutics using bottlebrush polymer for applications in oral drug delivery.

Celebrating its 11th year, the CAS Future Leaders program awards 30 early-career scientists from around the globe with leadership training. This year's participants were selected among hundreds of applicants and represent 18 countries and an array of scientific disciplines.

"As a participant of the CAS Future Leaders Program, I will become better equipped to continue leadership in my immediate community on campus and globally through social media platforms," said Monica. "I look forward to building meaningful connections with scientists in all fields of chemistry from around the world. This opportunity will provide me with valuable training, which I will use to one day lead a research lab at the interface of polymer science and medicine."

CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society, is a global organization of expert scientists, technologists, and business leaders with a successful and extended history of delivering scientific information opportunities.
