BME hosts successful Neural Interfaces Conference

The 43rd Neural Interfaces Conference (NIC2018), organized by Conference Chair Matt Johnson, was held June 25-27 in Minneapolis. The event event brought together over 500 scientists, engineers, clinicians, regulatory experts, industry leaders, and government representatives.
Alford paper named best of 2017

The paper, “Empirically Determined Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Mechano-Adaptation Law,” has been awarded the Richard Skalak Award for the best paper published in the Journal of Biomechanical Engineering.
UMN graduates 1,000th BME major

The 1,000th Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering degree was conferred by the department this spring. At the department's commencement reception, all 1,000 names were displayed as the Minnesota Rouser was played.

David Odde named AAAS Fellow

Professor Odde was recognized as a Fellow for his contributions to the understanding of the self assembly and force generation of microtubules, F-actin, and associate proteins. Election as a Fellow is bestowed upon American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) members by their peers.
