Professor Lu receives Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award

Professor Connie Lu has received a Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany. She was honored for her outstanding research record. The award will enable Lu to conduct collaborative research with colleagues in Germany.

Lu's research project will foster research cooperation and explore new joint research opportunities under the theme of small-molecule activation and functionalization. The collaborations with Professor Karsten Meyer at the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg and with Professor Christian Limberg at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin Institut für Chemie will involve various aspects of catalyst development, including ligand design, catalytic testing, and spectroscopic characterization of the catalyst and reactive intermediates.
