Confronting Colonization Working Group
Introducing Updated Commitments to Confront Colonization in ESCI

Description
Over the past year and a half, ESCI has been undergoing a process of learning about Indigenous issues – with guidance from Indigenous experts. Through this, we have been developing a set of commitments to ethical practices that will hold us accountable to the Indigenous peoples of the lands where it takes place. The ESCI “Confronting Colonization” Working Group (comprising faculty, researchers, staff, and students) will be presenting an updated version of these commitments, which incorporates feedback from the greater ESCI community on an earlier draft from Spring 2022. We will also be introducing a self-guided activity for small groups to engage in this year as next steps in our collective process of confronting colonization in ESCI.
