Jane Lansing Receives UMN Service Award

Jane Lansing (BCE 1976) was honored with the 2022 Alumni Service Award, which recognizes graduates for outstanding volunteer service to the University.

Jane Lansing built an impressive career as the Vice President of Marketing at Emerson, a major Fortune 500 company. She has also gone above and beyond for her alma mater, contributing her invaluable experience, skills, and resources to help propel university initiatives to new heights. Lansing began her service in 2014 as one of the first female leaders on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the College of Science and Engineering (CSE). Since 2014 her advice, work, and passion has played a truly critical role within the college.

Lansing is an excellent relationship builder and problem solver with a big picture mindset. She took on the challenge of helping CSE leadership identify a unifying theme to shape the college’s brand identity and communications strategy. Lansing guided board members and college leadership through a brand and marketing crash course and executed a year-long identity refresh and marketing analysis identifying three core audiences – students, faculty and staff, and alumni and donors. As a result, Lansing led three separate workshops, one for each constituency, to help build meaningful brand fluency between groups.
In addition to her longtime leadership on the Dean’s Advisory Board, Lansing has provided valuable guidance and support to her home department of Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering (CEGE) and has actively participated in numerous activities, lectures, and networking events to support student professional development and alumni engagement.

CEGE celebrates this well-deserved award for one of our outstanding alumni. Congratulations, Jane, and thank you!
