Research Opportunities in Rock Deformation (R.O.R.D.)

A new Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program is now being offered in Earth and Environmental Sciences. This is a distributed REU in that students apply for a summer internship and then go to one of ~12 different universities around the country for the summer to conduct research. This particular REU is focused on rock deformation.

A study led by ESCI's own Prof. Jake Bailey and Phd Student Dalton Leprich discovered that deep-sea bacteria dissolve carbon-containing rocks, releasing excess carbon into the ocean and atmosphere.
