The Department of Chemistry has offered 14 undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in an abbreviated, five-week, full-time research opportunity through its Summer Research Program.

Yinan Shu, a post-doctoral researcher working with Professor Donald Truhlar, has received the Robin Hochstrasser Young Investigator Award. This was created by Elsevier Publishing to honor Robin Hochstrasser and support young scientists.

Two Department of Chemistry professors, Wayne Gladfelter and Donald Truhlar, are celebrating significant anniversaries with the University of Minnesota in 2019. Gladfelter has been with the faculty in chemistry for 40 years, and Truhlar has been with the department for 50 years.

Matt Simons has received the Richard D. Amelar and Arthur S. Lodge Fellowship for Outstanding Collaborative Research in Materials for 2020-21. This award is given to a student whose research interests encompass the overlapping scope of chemistry and chemical engineering and materials science.
