Professor Christy Haynes named new head of the Department of Chemistry

In regard to the announcement of her new position, Prof. Haynes says to the department: “I am so grateful for the thoughtful stewardship provided over the last 5+ years by Prof. David Blank in his role as department head. I have learned a lot while working with him and plan to put that knowledge to use when I take over the position this summer. As a program that teaches a very large fraction of UMN students and one of the largest PhD-granting departments on campus, in a state that values education and must make progress to overcome racial and socioeconomic achievement gaps, UMN Chemistry has the opportunity to do great science while pursuing the greater good. This will take all of us, and I'll do my best to steer us toward those goals."
