Student Leaders Take on Multiple Roles

The largest professional engineering group for CEGE students is the American Society for Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter. The group offers fun, connection, knowledge, competition, study help, and exposure to engineering professionals and companies. The students who step up to lead this dynamic group are themselves dynamic. This year the President of the University of Minnesota Student Chapter of ASCE is Anthony (AJ) Tabura, and Chandler Lallak serves as the Vice President.

Judy Yang Receives NSF CAREER Award

Posted

Judy Yang's research will shed light on the fundamental mechanisms that govern the interactions among microbes, fluid, and particulates. The results of the research will guide erosion restoration projects for coasts and rivers, and will support prediction and control of the spread of biofilm-bound particulate contaminants.

Water Bottle Filling Station is a Gift from Graduating Students

Generous donors have helped us create some wonderful spaces for students to study and mingle. The Granite Table in the Robert and Joyce Rosene Student Lounge has been chosen as a campus-wide favorite study spot. Our newest addition, a water bottle refilling station, is a gift to the department from some of our newest alumni, paying it forward for CEGE students.

Ketson R. M. dos Santos joins Structural Faculty

CEGE's strong commitment to educating structural engineers continues with a new additionof Ketson dos Santos to the structural faculty. He comes to UMN from the École Polytechnique Féderale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, where he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher. His expertise lies in uncertainty quantification and computational engineering dynamics/mechanics.

Interview with authors Patrick Brezonik and William Arnold, who have recently published the second edition of their well-respected and widely used textbook, Water Chemistry. The first edition came out in 2011, and so many CEGE alumni—as well as water resource professionals around the world—learned their trade from this book.
