Peer Tutor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering

Hello there! My name is Nate Sternberg, and I am a junior majoring in Computer Engineering with a minor in Physics. My main interests are in chip design, optics, and alternative computing.

My favorite courses so far have actually been through the Electrical Engineering department, I am a big fan of the super low-level hardware that make up computers. I enjoy the kind of interesting logic puzzles that make up the bulk of Computer Engineering. I was previously a TA for CSCI 1103, 1933, 2011, and EE 2301, and I have also interned as a software engineer at multiple places. I enjoy spending my time doing all sorts of nerdy things, like programming, building things, working on my car, and playing video games.

My goal as a tutor is really to help students "think like a programmer". In my opinion, computer science is all about the high-level ideas and challenges that go into solving problems, and the only thing that depends on is creativity, determination, and a passion for solving interesting problems. I know that sometimes classes can feel daunting, especially at the beginning of college and computer science, but with passion and determination, success is guaranteed.

I am very passionate about helping students break down complex topics into digestible ideas, and help them understand the big ideas behind the things they are learning. I like helping, discussing ideas, and coming up with solutions to problems students face.
