Professional Background
Abhishek Chandra joined the Department of Computer Science & Engineering in 2004 as an assistant professor. He is also affiliated with the Distributed Computing Systems Group Lab at the University. Chandra received his M.S. (2000) and Ph.D. (2005) in computer science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He is a lifetime member of ACM and a member of IEEE. Chandra received the National Science Foundation’s CAREER Award in 2007 and the IBM Faculty Award in 2011.

Chandra's research interests are in the areas of operating systems and distributed systems. His research focuses on resource management and performance in large-scale distributed systems with the goal of achieving reliability, scalability, and manageability. The recent focus has been on designing and optimizing systems for data-intensive computing applications in cloud and edge computing platforms, especially for data generated near end-users (e.g., mobile and IoT data).
