Doctoral thesis credits

All students in the Computer Science Ph.D. program must complete 24 doctoral thesis credits before they can complete their degree. To become eligible, a student must first successfully pass their written and oral qualifying exams (WPE/OPE).

Upon passing the OPE, the student is admitted to Ph.D candidacy and able to register for thesis credits on their own. Students must pass the Preliminary Oral Examination before the end of the second week of any given semester in order to register for thesis credits in that same semester. Failure to do so will mean the student must wait for the following semester to enroll in doctoral thesis credits.
