Wolfrath and Chandra receive Best Poster Award at SEC 2020

New research by Ph.D. student Joel Wolfrath and Professor Abhishek Chandra won the Best Poster Award at the 5th ACM/IEEE Symposium on Edge Computing (SEC), held virtually in November 2020. Their work, Data-Aware Sampling for Aggregate Query Approximation, was chosen for the top poster honor by an independent selection committee.

Joel Wolfrath is currently a second-year Ph.D. student in the Computer Science & Engineering department. His research interests include distributed systems, geo-distributed data analytics, and methods of query approximation. He is a member of the Distributed Computing Systems Group with Professor Abhishek Chandra. Professor Chandra's recent research has focused on designing and optimizing systems for data-driven computing in the cloud and at the edge, especially for data generated at the edge of the network (near the users). This focus has involved research in geo-distributed data analytics, social analytics, and mobile and IoT data analytics.

Please join CS&E in congratulating Joel Wolfrath and Professor Abhishek Chandra upon receiving this special award.
