We are thrilled to have you as an Undergraduate TA in the Computer Science & Engineering Department!

The CSCI TA Portal site is a centralized space containing all of the resources you may want or need as a TA for CS&E. We are here to help and support you, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions!

Who’s “we”?

Kelly Thomas (she/they): UG TA Coordinator

  • Kelly has been with the department since 2015 and has managed UG TA coordination since 2019. Kelly handles hiring, course placements, and all of the “big picture” stuff. She is also the main point of contact for general UG TA questions.


Jacquelyn Burt (she/her): Instructor, UG TA Training & Professional Development 

  • Jacquelyn has been with the department since 2019 and at the University of Minnesota since 2010. She is one of the co-instructors of CSCI 2915: Teaching Methods in Computer Science. Jacquelyn also leads the Interrupting Implicit Bias mandatory TA training course as well as some additional optional TA trainings and workshops throughout the academic year.


Elise Waters (she/her): Student Services Specialist

  • Elise has been with the department for about 3 years and has been assisting with UG TA coordination since Fall 2021. Elise handles application submissions and all of the mass UG TA communications.

[email protected] is the contact for CS&E undergraduate TA coordination. All information regarding CS&E undergraduate TAing is distributed from this account, so please make sure that our emails are not ending up in your spam folder. You can direct all of your general UG TA questions to this email address as well for Kelly or Elise to answer. Response time varies but is usually pretty quick during department office hours (8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday).
